Introducing the Dental Practice Team

Our overall goal is to provide you and your family with all your treatment needs, in a professional, friendly, caring and relaxed atmosphere. With this in mind it’s important we have a team who compliments this vision.

Dr Adam Alford BDS (Hons), FICCDE (Orthodontics) FMU(Implant Dentistry), Brisbane CBD, Toowong, Paddington and Northlakes

Dentist

In 2000 I graduated from the University of Sydney with Honours.  I have worked extensively in Country, General Family, Cosmetic Dentistry and Dental Implants practices, in both Australia and the United Kingdom.

I have strong beliefs in offering patients options with supporting information on the positives and negatives of these options.  This enables you, as the patient, to make an educated decision and to decide the treatment that best suits your particular circumstance.

Some of my underlying beliefs for dentistry are;

1. We are here to help, be friendly and empathetic.

2. The cost of dentistry needs to be manageable and attainable for the general community.

3. All options need to be discussed so that our patients can make an informed decision, they need the ability to ask questions and contemplate.

4. If it were my family sitting in the chair what options would I offer, how would I treat them.

5. I want my patients to feel as though we are somewhat friends and our families have grown togther over the years.

I started my career in North Richmond, on the outskirts of Sydney.  Here, I developed the skills to organise and plan treatments across the many dental mediums involved in large reconstructive cases.  I also worked closely with the principal dentist and maxillofacial surgeon, to improve and enhance my oral surgery skills.

My next location was on the lower north shore, at Wahroonga a family orientated suburban practice.  During this time I concentrated on high quality restorative and preventative treatment, with an emphasis on offering treatment options for long term success.  Here, I started to research Snoring and Sleep Apnoea issues, and Fluoride supplementation guidelines for prevention.  I also started to research new, more aesthetic materials which still offer the same long term success as the older style materials.  For example, using ceramic crowns instead of the older metal fused to ceramic crowns, and ceramic restorations instead of the tooth coloured plastic materials.

During 2004 I moved to London to follow my wife’s career.  Here, I joined a Cosmetic Dentistry and Dental Implants based practice in Richmond, London.  I soon enhanced my knowledge in these areas.  I spent time with the principal dentist, specialising in the placement of Dental Implants and reconstructive cases with implants, and learning the often neglected skill of planning.  Whilst in London I researched and compiled a study on Teeth Whitening for the Australian dental company SDI.

After returning from London I worked again back at Wahroonga and also in Mosman at a well regarded dental implant and cosmetic practice. In 2008 I decided it was time to start my own business and bring together everything I had learned, I decided to bring the surburbs into the city in terms of attitude and having a friendly, family orientated environment, but also being able to offer my patients the knowledge about Dental Implantology and cosmetic dentistry which I had learned at the high end cosmetic reconstructive practices. I wanted to present this combining of dental worlds in a non intimidating way, and also without the price tags.

After many years at my own successful private practice in Sydney CBD, my wonderful family supported the idea of coming back to Brisbane where I grew up and spent many wonderful years as a child and adolescence and wanted our own children to experience this.

I have carried out numerous hours of continuing education including becoming a Fellow Of the International College of Continuing Dental Education in Orthodontics and a Fellow of the University of Miami in Implant Dentistry and Dental Implant Surgical Techniques.

I look forward to meeting all my patients who I hope will become friends and we will see each other for many years.
